There’s not much difference in how to set a stepping stone path in a lawn & setting it with softscape planted between the stones. Because you’ll be setting your path into a relatively healthy lawn, you’ll do things a bit differently. To begin with, the sod you remove in order to set each stone can be used to patch grass elsewhere that’s grown sparse or brown.
